Travel insurance is a subject where a vague article can cost a reader real money. This page sets out how we work, so you can judge our guides for yourself.

Where our information comes from

We build our guides from primary sources wherever possible:

Where a detail varies by insurer or by state — and in travel insurance it very often does — we say so rather than presenting one insurer’s terms as universal.

How we handle numbers

Prices, coverage limits and medical cost estimates change. We date the figures we publish and revisit them. A price quoted in a guide is an illustration of typical market range, not a quote for you: your own premium depends on age, trip cost, destination, duration and medical history.

Updates

Guides are reviewed and updated as policy terms, regulations and prices change. Where an article covers a fast-moving topic, we re-check it more often. We update articles in place rather than republishing them with a new date to look fresh.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Email [email protected] with the article and the problem. Where a correction changes the substance of our advice, we note the change in the article rather than quietly editing it.

Independence and commercial relationships

Some links on this site earn us a commission. Commercial relationships do not decide what we cover, what we recommend against, or how we rank options, and no insurer gets to review our content before it is published. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains this in full.

What this site is not

Hotelsca US is a publisher. We are not an insurance broker, agent or adviser, we are not licensed to sell insurance, and we cannot advise on your individual circumstances. Our guides are general information. The policy wording you are issued always overrides anything you read here.

Hotelsca US is a publisher, not an insurance broker or agent. Our guides are general information, not advice about your own circumstances, and we are not licensed to sell insurance. Coverage varies by insurer, state and traveller — the certificate of insurance issued to you is the only document that determines what you are covered for. Some links on this site are affiliate links; this never affects our coverage or your price.
